Important aspects in the reconstruction of head and neck defects, such as soft tissue and bony contouring and inset which are not covered in other dissection courses, will be demonstrated and detailed by a nationally known faculty who are leaders in the field of head and neck reconstructive surgery. An optional day is dedicated to the description, demonstration, and practice of the stepwise approach in performing microvascular anastomosis techniques. This course is appropriate for both surgeons in training and experienced surgeons in the disciplines of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, oral surgery and plastic surgery. This course is designed to give maximal exposure of the faculty to the participants in the anatomy lab, with ample time to learn the details of free flap reconstruction for the major areas of the upper aerodigestive tract.
